Bio

I spent the summer of 2000 preparing for boot camp after graduating high school. Right about the time when my peers headed off to college, I was on a flight to Fort Leonard Wood, MO to begin the nine-week transition from civilian to U.S. Army soldier. While this is a fun story to tell, the decision to join the military is actually a ponderous testament to how I’ve had to navigate an unconventional life -- which hasn’t been easy.

In any case, I’m proud to say that my tenacity, ambition and self-awareness eclipsed the obstacles I’ve faced down roads that were less-traveled. With each personal and professional challenge, I always find a way to learn and to grow.

Initially, my plan was to have a career in education as a high school English teacher. I successfully attained a B.A. in English from the University of California in Santa Barbara (UCSB), as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Southern California (USC).

Unfortunately, 2011 proved to be an inopportune time to graduate as a would-be teacher in California and it was difficult to secure a stable teaching opportunity. Not one to be easily disheartened by setbacks, I pursued other opportunities where I could leverage my abilities as a skilled communicator and opened myself up to other career possibilities.

Since graduating from USC in 2011, the direction my professional experience has taken me is toward a thriving career in corporate and strategic communications. Throughout my career, I've served integral roles working alongside senior leadership to accomplish strategic initiatives in both the public and private sectors.

More details on my professional experience can be found on my resume and LinkedIn profile.

Over two decades have passed since I shipped off to boot camp. Since then, I’ve achieved many of my professional and personal goals. However, what I take most pride in is the fact that I'm confident and that I'm happy. While traveling down the less-traveled roads of my life, I’ve found that having confidence and being happy can sometimes be the most challenging goals to accomplish.
